What stays with you

  1. Left and right were the two sides of a room, in France in 1789.
  2. In general, the left wants a more present State and the right, a smaller one. It is a tendency, not a rule.
  3. You can be on one side on the economy and on the other on social values.
  4. In 2024, 40% of Brazilians said they were not left, right or center.
  5. Measured by opinions, Brazil in 2026 is 44% right and 39% left. In 2022 it was the other way around.
  6. Almost half of Brazilians cannot explain what the left is or what the right is.
  7. The names stayed, but the content changed. In 1789, the free market was a cause of the left.
  8. Left and right are for summing up positions, not for picking a team to cheer for.
  9. One side puts equality first. The other, freedom and tradition.
