What was left-wing in 1789 would sound right-wing today.

In France in 1789, those who sat on the left defended, among other things, the free market. It was the cause of those who wanted to end the privileges of the nobility and the Church.

Since then the meaning has changed many times. And it is easy to find left-wing or right-wing governments in history that took measures associated with the other side.
